Smart Memory
Give Lee the ability to search through your notes and conversations by meaning, not just keywords. This makes Lee much better at remembering context.
What is Smart Memory?
Normally, searching your notes requires exact keywords. Smart Memory uses AI to understand the meaning of what you're looking for.
With Smart Memory:
Without Smart Memory:
"Find my notes about the budget"
Only finds notes with the word "budget"
With Smart Memory:
"Find my notes about the budget"
Also finds notes about "expenses", "costs", "spending"
After this setup, Lee can:
- Search your memory files by meaning, not just keywords
- Find related information even with different wording
- Remember context from past conversations better
- Answer questions about things you've discussed before
Get a Free Gemini API Key
Google offers a free API for Gemini that we'll use for Smart Memory.
- Go to Google AI Studio
- Sign in with your Google account
- Click Create API Key
- Copy the key that appears (it starts with "AI...")
π‘ The free tier is generous - more than enough for personal use. You won't need to pay.
Send the Key to Lee
Send Lee a message with your API key:
Done!
Lee will confirm once Smart Memory is set up.
β That's it! Lee will now use semantic search when looking through your notes and memory.
How does it work?
When you save notes or have conversations, Lee converts them into "embeddings" - mathematical representations of meaning. When you search, Lee converts your query into an embedding too, and finds notes with similar meaning. This happens instantly and uses very little of your free API quota.
Try it out!
After this setup, Lee can:
- "What did we discuss about the project last week?"
- "Find my notes about travel plans"
- "What do you remember about [topic]?"
